Regularly cases of ciguatera are reported by the State services and the Health Agency (ARS) of Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. This food poisoning is caused by "the consumption of certain predatory fish living near or in damaged coral reefs contaminated by a toxin produced by a microalga present in coral reefs", indicates the direction of the Food of Agriculture and the Forest (DAAF) which has just updated its information brochure on ciguatera which can be downloaded from its website. The regional prefecture reminds all fishermen to be vigilant concerning these species, in particular pagres and trevallies. In case of digestive disorders, it is recommended to consult a doctor. _EH
