Sunday morning, Eric Lombard, Managing Director of Caisse des Dépôts, visited the construction sites underway by social landlords, Semsamar and SIG (Société Immobilière de la Guadeloupe) at full speed and discovered the development projects of Saint-Martin . Faxinfo: What emerges from your visit to Saint-Martin?
Erice Lombard: Optimism, because we all, in metropolitan France, were very united during Irma and there I see that the island is rebuilding by trying to do better, with development projects, with the reconstruction, the renovation of the social housing, with development projects. So I find it very encouraging.
Faxinfo: How did you intervene?
Eric Lombard: We intervene in multiple ways, and I made the point with the President Daniel Gibbs during this day, first we are a shareholder of Semsamar, of the Société Immobilière de la Guadeloupe (SIG), so through our shareholding, we finance also these companies for renovation. Then we will finance, in the discussions we have with the Community, the development projects that will be deployed on the island.
Faxinfo: Did you find that the work had progressed well?
Eric Lombard: It depends on the places. There are many HLM parks that have been upgraded, there are places where the work is underway. What is clear is that I only saw places where work was progressing, where there were action plans, teams who were at work on the ground to improve things for the saints -Martinese. And that goes in the right direction.
