Always with a view to raising awareness of the animal cause and raising funds for the association, the Collectif Animaux SXM has recently invited the population to participate in a karma yoga session on the Place de la Baie Oriente every second Saturday of each month. The second session was enriching at all levels.
Launched in the test phase on July 30, the first edition of Yoga Karma Animals guided by Tania, yoga teacher at Vitalita, had met its audience. Faced with this success, the SXM Animals Collective has decided to set up monthly sessions, every second Saturday of the month, and this, on free donation. It was therefore on August 13 that budding yogis had their second relaxing experience in support of the animal cause. The yoga class was given in French and English, for a duration of one hour. Some yoga lovers, walking on the beach of Orient Bay and seeing the session in progress, joined the group in full practice. Elise and Camille, representatives of the SXM Animals Collective, were obviously present, surrounded by two puppies available for adoption, to answer any questions from the participants and to publicize the collective and its actions. Fundraising is essential for the survival of the association. The care of a dog between identification, sterilization, passport and medical costs is on average 250€ per animal. But both have decided to maintain a free donation to access the yoga sessions, leaving each participant free to give what seems right to them. In-kind donations are obviously welcome, such as bags of kibble or dog games. For this second edition of Yoga Karma Animals, the collective raised €118 compared to €120 during the first session on July 30, which nevertheless had a little more participants. In addition to this great collaboration that combines well-being and animal causes, the SXM Animals Collective reminds us that it badly needs escorts to take adopted dogs to metropolitan France.
