After a particularly calm start to the hurricane season, more and more tropical waves evolving in a more favorable environment have been monitored by observers in recent days.

Thursday, August 25, the NHC spotted a new phenomenon out of Africa. "A new tropical wave has emerged from the west coast of Africa and is producing a large area of showers and disorganized thunderstorms," the NHC said. "Environmental conditions could favor a slow development of this system through early next week as it moves rapidly west across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic."

Another tropical wave generates heavy rains in Martinique. The island is also placed in yellow vigilance until Friday evening. It will cross the south of the Caribbean arc and could develop into a cyclonic phenomenon when it reaches the level of the western Caribbean Sea.

For the time being, the National Hurricane Center maintains the probability of development of the two tropical waves mentioned at 20%. _pc
