Well-being: MBTI®, kesako? [First part]

0

Last Saturday, at La Plénitude, there was a workshop where Antoine suggested that we use the MBTI® method to get to know each other better. MBTI® is the acronym for "Meyers Briggs Typology Indicator" named after the two women who developed this technique to highlight our innate character traits.

If certain character traits are innate, it is because they have been there from the start and there is nothing we can do about it, these are our natural inclinations, where we are really good. Depending on the tool, there are 16 types of personalities who are nuanced by each person's lifestyles. The workshop is long, we spend the day there, but the atmosphere was good and the participants really pleasant. So here we are embedded in the dark recesses of our personality. In addition to the introduction, the history and the various explanations on the method that we will develop in the second part with the trainer, we take tests, we do small fun exercises and we end up knowing more about us. -same and on others. Indeed, the MBTI® method allows us to get to know each other better and to better understand our methods of interaction with the world. It is also a method that is very often used in business to improve relationships within teams and to optimize the efficiency of each other, and even to recruit. An example of Antoine to better understand.

One day, during a recruitment process, he sees a salesperson arrive in front of him. At that time, Antoine is a head hunter and he is looking for "killers" for his client. After a few moments, he understands that the candidate in front of him is absolutely not the case, but he takes the time to discuss. This man dreamed of becoming a photographer but his father pushed him towards a "real" profession. The father makes the rational choice (in MBTI® language, T) while the candidate is, by nature, inclined to make the choice of feelings (in MBTI® F language). He was barely acceptable as a salesperson because he learned to compensate but he couldn't become excellent at it and he couldn't thrive in it because he was constantly evolving in a zone of effort. It's a bit quick summary but that's the general idea. One of the great advantages of the method is that it allows to validate or rediscover the attractions that we had put aside in favor of "what to do". The method also allows us to understand some of our behaviors, why certain types of relationships we like or dislike, the lines of work to develop our natural capacities… And then, the other. The workshop takes place in groups and inevitably, there is a plurality of profiles represented. Everyone explains their way of approaching the proposed situations in a peaceful environment and through Antoine's insights, we quickly understood that everything is only a question of point of view. The choices of the people we meet in our personal or professional lives have absolutely nothing to do with us. It is always a way of seeing the world, a vision that passes through the filter of our personal characteristics. An exciting experience to learn to understand human relationships.
