Sea inn: demolition is postponed!

0

The demolition of the Auberge de mer, presented as urgent last October, has finally been postponed!

Last October, an ordinance carrying ordinary danger signed by the president of the Collectivity, was posted on the walls of the sea inn. "Taking into account the danger run by the occupants because of the inventory of fixtures, access or the use of the Auberge de Mer building is prohibited, ”read one.

Semsamar, which was responsible for the management of the marina via its subsidiary Samagest, was then to carry out the demolition of the building within two months, that is to say before mid-December. The urgency of the situation was brought to the fore, and a wind of panic took hold of the ten traders operating on the premises. The Collectivity, which took over the marina concession on January 1, 2019, as planned, was to work on solutions for temporary relocation of shops. The project to install Algécos on the parking lot of the Tourist Office had been mentioned without anything concrete being advanced.

Demolition work began on November 26 in the unoccupied part of the building. The traders, who continued their activity on the other side, had filed a complaint for endangering the lives of others and called for a mobilization before blocking the site and marching through the streets of Marigot. They had also filed a summary to the administrative court, supporting a second opinion. On December 17, the court rejected the request to suspend the work.

Today, in mid-February 2019, although the works delimitation grids are still on site, the demolition of the building seems to have stopped. When questioned, the merchants of the sea inn declare that they have had no information since they were received by the community in the presence of Semsamar in early December 2018. "It's radio silence" they deplore.

Semsamar has not yet answered our questions. As for the COM, it explains that within the framework of the DSP exit negotiations, a contract is being drawn up. Before the court rendered its decision on the summary, Daniel Gibbs had promised traders last December that they would not be dislodged during the tourist season. Although the court has since rejected the traders' request, the sea hostel should not be destroyed until solutions to relocate traders are found. Semsamar should support the Community on this, by building a rehousing plan and monitoring the work. (Source: www.soualigapost.com)
