On Wednesday, January 30, a meeting was held in the prefecture on cooperation between the various institutional and professional players concerned by the agricultural component of the Grand Plan d'Investissement in Saint-Martin.

The agricultural component of the Large Investment Plan (GPI) is intended to be the main intervention instrument of the State to stimulate the transformation of the agricultural, agrifood, forest-wood, fishing and aquaculture sectors, in response to the challenges and expectations. expressed during the general states of the diet. It is endowed with 5 billion euros over 5 years (2018-2022).

In this context, the Minister of Agriculture has entrusted Olivier Allain with a mission to publicize the systems. He was accompanied by Vincent Steinmetz general engineer of the General Council for Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas (CGAAER).

After being received by Mrs. the Prefect, Mr. ALLAIN and Mr. STEINMETZ participated in a working meeting with the Acting Secretary General D. JANE, Mr. FAUCHER DAAF, Mr. VELY and Mrs. DI BARI of UT of the DAAF in Saint-Martin, the Territorial Advisers Mr. CHARBHE and Mrs. CARTI, Mr. Elie TOUZE of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin and the representatives of SICA SMART, ODEADOM, SEABAT, ADEPAL and CCISM. Mrs. PLAUCOSTE from the UT of the DEAL in Saint-Martin was also present as well as Mr. GERMAIN from the association Initiative Saint-Martin Active.

On this occasion, the Great Investment Plan was presented and two local projects made it possible to illustrate the initiatives of the sector: the project to create an egg packaging center (animal part) led by Mr. GUMBS from SICASMART, a local agricultural professional organization with the help of state funding, and the hydroponics project led by Mr. GESTER of the Green Soldiers (plant part).

The day continued with field visits.

The State continues to work, in partnership with the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, for the revival and development of agriculture and on the levers of transformation and upgrading of agricultural sectors in this territory for greater autonomy
