“Further to the article published on Wednesday September 9 in the Fax Info on the absence of household waste collection in the private housing estate of Mont Vernon 1, the Collectivité of Saint-Martin would like to provide the following details:
The household waste collection service operates in all sectors of the island, including the Mont Vernon 1 subdivision, on a daily basis and according to collection routes defined in the context of public contracts. There is no à la carte collection for private housing estates, household waste is collected at the entrance to residences. This is the case for the housing estates of Orient Bay, Les Jardins de la BO, Mont Vernon 2 and Mont Vernon 3 where residents respect this operation. The inhabitants of these residences bring their waste to the containers every day. The containers of the Mont Vernon 1 residence are systematically moved and installed at the top of the hill by residents wanting the containers in front of their homes, without taking into account the needs of the other inhabitants and forcing the collection truck to circulate in this private residence.
The Collectivity informs that the Mont Vernon 1 containers will be cleaned and replaced in the right place (at the entrance to the subdivision on the main road) as planned in the market. Residents are invited to respect this operation in the interest of all residents ”.
