The Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (Drees) has just unveiled a new study on voluntary terminations of pregnancy (2016).
In France, 211.900 abortions have been performed. This number is down slightly for the third year in a row. For the overseas departments and regions (DROM), including Mayotte, more than 13.000 have been identified. The use of abortion is more frequent in the DROMs: 13,9 abortion (per 1 women000 to 15 years) in metropolitan France and 49 in the DROM. Concerning the Antilles, it is in Guadeloupe that there are the most abortions: 25,2 in 3.104 (2016 abortions per 33,8 women, 1000-15 years old). Martinique follows with 49 (2.184 IVG per 26,7 women, 1000-15 years old). _EH
