The Archigirls made a trip to François (Martinique) last weekend for the “La Poste” trophy, a rugby sevens tournament bringing together eight teams including the champions from Guadeloupe and Martinique.
The formation of the Archigirls fell into a very tough pool including the defending champion of Martinique (the Diamond), the leader of the Martinique championship (the Gauloise Trinité) and the military team of Fort-de-France.
The first game against the Diamond was a cruel disappointment for the Archigirls.
Leading the score throughout the game, the players of Saint-Martin cashed an assassin's test to finally bow in the last seconds of the game (12-17).
Faced with the Martinican soldiers, the Archigirls reacted well to win logically 14-5.
During the last group match, the Archigirls had the heavy task of facing the ogre of the tournament, "La Gauloise" victorious over other teams by eloquent scores.
"Despite a most successful match for a long time, the girls had to bow (12-21) after questionable arbitration decisions," said the coach.
"A very bitter defeat which nevertheless augurs better results for the meetings to come". The 5th place classification match pitted the Archigirls against the François.
Despite the injury to Maryline Bruno's collarbone, her teammates showed solidarity to stay in contact with their opponents and even win in the mental (19-12).
With a record of two victories, two defeats and 9 tries registered by five different players, the overall performance is positive, in the very opinion of the coach.
The Archigirls would like to thank the partners who contributed to the trip to Martinique, namely: Rev'car, LEADER MAT, the String, Top Dépôt, Cool Heure, Fanelite, Rapido Print, TTGCE, CMA-CMG and Sécurité Confort.
