The 8th edition of the International Women of the island of Saint-Martin, with the support of the Collectivity, takes place from January 22 to 29 on the courts of the Tennis Club Ile de Saint-Martin (TCISM).

Endowed with $ 10 last year, this 000 tournament sees its endowment increase to $ 2017, the minimum threshold imposed by the ITF to organize this international tournament. A large-scale competition that allows the hopefuls of world tennis to harden themselves on the international circuit and improve their ranking in the WTA.

"We are delighted to be able to offer this year again, a first-rate show to the people of Saint-Martin," said Osé Saint-Louis Gabriel, organizer and president of TCISM. “I would like to thank the many partners who are contributing to the success of this international tournament, which has a total budget of € 45. The French Tennis Federation (FFT) and the Guadeloupe League participate respectively for € 000 and € 5. The Collectivity also provides part of the funding (note: the amount has not been communicated).

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Abdel Khalfaoui (treasurer), Céline Colognac, Hervé Leport (secretaries) and Dominique Bussy (club member) for their invaluable help in organizing this new edition ”.

This 8th edition will start on Sunday January 22 and Monday January 23 with two qualifying rounds to then access, on Tuesday, the final table made up of thirty-two players including 4 wild cards.

The arbitral corps will be composed of eight arbitrators, including four from Guadeloupe and Martinique and one from Portugal. Note that the referee will not be Stéphane Apostolou well known in Saint-Martin but Jean-Patrick Reydellet, newly distinguished by the ITF for the qualification of head of referees gold badge.

On the short side, the seeded n ° 1 of the tournament is named Chieh-Yu Hsu (TPE), ranked 398th at the WTA.

Winner last year, the Habs Irina Ramialison, seeded n ° 2 and 405th at the WTA will try to keep her 2016 title.

Since 2010, the International Women's Tennis Championships on the island of Saint-Martin have acquired their acclaim and thus contribute to the reputation of the destination.

There is no doubt that this 8th edition will once again be a clear and popular success throughout this week dedicated to high level tennis. _AF
