During a meeting that lasted more than three hours, the SEMSAMAR board of directors dismissed Ms. BELENUS-ROMANA from her position as general manager in order to appoint Mr. Yawo NYUIADZI CEO of the group.

On the agenda were the change of governance and the appointment of Mr. Yawo Nyuiadzi, current second vice-president of the COM, as CEO of the mixed economy company.

Last week, the territorial council had decided to combine the functions of chairman of the board of directors and general manager in order to create a post of CEO, for which Mr. Nyuiadzi was a candidate. Subject to a vote, the two resolutions were adopted by the SEMSAMAR board of directors.

Mr. Nyuiadzi affirms that the creation of a post of CEO will allow the elected officials of Saint-Martin to “take their responsibilities and report to their voters on the results of their actions. Elected officials will be able to print their mark on the functioning of society. Of course, we will be accompanied in this task by technicians who operate this high-performance company ”.

Revoked from her position, Ms. Bélénus-Romana wonders about the reasons for her eviction: "Why was I dismissed in an emergency?" No serious answer has been given to me, ”she believes. “Our countries need an efficient development and planning agency to flourish since the State is increasingly disengaging from the Overseas, while the challenges to be met are immense. SEMSAMAR has played this role for the past ten years: can it still do so? And above all does she still want to do it? We will have to have an answer to these two essential questions very quickly and draw all the consequences ”, she added.

As a reminder, in Saint-Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana, SEMSAMAR employs more than 380 people and generates nearly 6 indirect jobs in the construction industry, has 500 billion euros in assets, has invested nearly 1,4 billion euros in 2 years and manages 10 homes, or one in seven homes in the Antilles.
