The duo Lugutestarea, composed by the artists Luís Guerreiro and Virginie Planques, which has been carrying out an artistic residency since the start of the health crisis at the Hotel Hommage & Résidences (formerly the Mercure hotel), invited art lovers to share their art last Friday. The result is stunning !
Recognized for their creativity in the world of Festivals (they participate in Universo Paralello (Brazil), Boom (Portugal), Fusion (Germany), Symbiosis (California), Virginie Planques and Luis Guerreiro have become true specialists in upcycling, c That is to say in the art of recycling the most diverse materials to integrate them into their artistic creations.
Armed with their talent, their technical knowledge and their creativity, both create stages, interactive installations, sculptures, design pieces and furniture… their field of action is limitless!
Since the start of the SXM Festival, they have returned regularly to Saint-Martin to bring their vision and work to the best electronic music festival in the Caribbean.
This year, they were to leave on March 21 for Europe, just after the festival. But the global pandemic changed their plans and they accepted Mr Baki Arbia's invitation to stay in artistic residency at Hôtel Hommage (formerly Mercure).
They used many materials available in the hotel (old refrigerators, mannequin, construction metal, concrete…) as raw material for their creations. The fruit of these five months of artistic achievement is visible in the gardens and the marina of the hotel, in particular "L´Ange", "La sirène", "Kinetic bamboos", "Disco Rocket", "the Cry of Neptune" and many other sculptures as surprising as each other!_AF
