NoCo Art Gallery & Studio exclusively presents new works by painters Colin Bootman and Jimmy Lucero this Saturday January 18 from 18 p.m. to 21 p.m. at Terres-Basses (Lot 39).

The “Visual Records of History” exhibition will guide you through the works of Colin and Jimmy in which they show local decorations from the Caribbean, painted in a realistic style. Their intention is to capture contemporary moments and thus contribute to the popularization of local Caribbean culture.

Colin and Jimmy met last year at NoCo Art Studio & Gallery and discovered that they have major similarities in their artistic interests. Both artists focus on depicting local contexts, while visualizing aspects of culture in their paintings. Additionally, both artists were educated in the arts and lived in the United States for many years.

• Colin Bootman

Originally from Trinidad, Colin was inspired by the rich and diverse culture of the Caribbean islands and by the years he spent in New York. As an artist, illustrator and art educator, Bootman's work is internationally recognized and has received many highly regarded awards in recent years. His paintings have been exhibited throughout the Caribbean in galleries and museums in the United States.

• Jimmy lucero

St. Maarten resident artist Jimmy Lucero was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. A naturally gifted artist, Jimmy studied oil painting from the age of 10.

After obtaining his BA and MA in fine arts, he taught painting and drawing at the University of Utah and Westminster College for 10 years.

Jimmy's style is unique. It moves freely from geometric structures to fluid abstract realism. Jimmy focuses on capturing aspects of modern life, but he also includes references to art history.

To reflect on these creative expressions, the art gallery again invites the public to join it for the opening on Saturday January 18. The exhibition will take place at Terres Basses (LOT 39) between 18 p.m. and 00 p.m.
