Vaccination against Covid-19: Anguilla and Saint-Barth are ahead of Saint-Martin and St Maarten

0

From Saint-Martin, St Maarten, Anguille and Saint-Barth, the two French communities are the two territories where the lowest number of doses of vaccine against Covid-19 has been administered: 8 in Saint-Barth and 000 in Saint-Martin against 9 in St Maarten and 255 in Anguilla *.

The figure of Saint-Barth can be explained logically, St Barth is the island with the fewest inhabitants of the four territories. Note that the number of doses is almost similar in the two communities while Saint-Barth has almost 3,5 times fewer inhabitants than Saint-Martin. There is also a big difference between Saint-Martin and St Maarten whose populations are getting closer.

If we look at the number of doses administered (in dark and light blue on the graph) in proportion to the official number of inhabitants (in gray on the graph), the French part of Saint-Martin is lagging behind the neighboring islands. The two territories which record the greatest advance are Saint-Barth and Anguilla, two islands whose economy is mainly based on luxury tourism and which want to be able to ensure health security for their inhabitants and tourists. Anguilla is also the only island with 0 active cases.

The vaccine used in Sint Maarten is only Pfizer, in Anguilla Astrazeneca and in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barth mainly Pfizer. (soualigapost.com)          * to June 2.
