When crossing the border and inside an area called the customs radius, the customs and the gendarmerie check the identity of people who present themselves there.
Since Monday, June 19, 2023, the airport and the port of the Collectivity of Saint-Barthélemy have been equipped with the "Trans-border Control" software. This device allows all users' passports to be scanned and automatically submitted to the national database.
This procedure makes it possible to significantly improve the efficiency of identity checks and, consequently, security at border crossing points, in accordance with the majority of ports and airports in the national territory.
The Delegate Prefect of the Northern Islands, Vincent Berton, welcomes this progress which is part of the strengthening of controls on the flow of passengers and goods entering Saint-Barthélemy.
