The President of the COM, Daniel Gibbs, took part, on Thursday January 21, in the meeting organized with the Penitentiary Integration and Probation Service (SPIP), within the Red Cross as part of a project remote visiting room (videoconference calls) for Saint-Martin detainees and their families.

This experimental device, associating the SPIP, the prison of Basse-Terre, the Red Cross and the Collectivity aims to mitigate the harmful effects of remoteness and contributes to maintaining the family ties of detainees imprisoned at the Maison d. 'Basse-Terre stop with their relatives living in Saint-Martin.

The families of detainees can thus benefit from a visiting room on Saint-Martin in the form of a video phone call. The device is installed in the premises of the Red Cross in Concordia.

The Collectivity, through the Public Service Houses (MSAP) of Sandy-Ground and Quartier d'Orléans, supports families in the process of obtaining a visit permit to benefit from a videoconference call with their imprisoned relative.

Daniel Gibbs and his vice-president Sofia Carti welcomed this joint initiative helping to maintain the link between families and prisoners serving their sentence in Basse-Terre.
