Company: Resumption of the activity of the Saint-Martin slaughterhouse

On Tuesday October 18, early in the morning, the Saint-Martin slaughterhouse resumed its activity.

Since April 2021, the establishment has been undergoing initial work essential to its operation. The structure located in Grand-Case, a real keystone of the livestock sectors in the territory, is the property of the Territorial Collectivity of Saint-Martin and is managed by the Public Establishment for the Management and Exploitation of the Slaughterhouse (EGEA).

Thanks to all the work carried out, the Territorial Unit of the Department of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (veterinary services) was able to issue the EGEA with conditional health approval. The final work to bring the slaughterhouse up to standard, according to the established schedule, is the responsibility of the project manager.

This resumption of activity allows the security and development of livestock sectors in Saint-Martin, and ensures the production of meat under the sanitary conditions required by the legislator, under the control of the veterinary services.
