The youth held a large part of the prefect's speech at the July 14 ceremony. “We have to look to the future, I am thinking particularly of our youth. (…) 40% of the population is under the age of twenty and these young people are the future of the island, ”considers Sylvie Feucher, stressing the role of decision-makers in ensuring that this future is beautiful.

“Deschooling, unemployment, delinquency, precariousness, consequence of climate change, these are evils which can affect them in the future and against which we must act urgently and relentlessly,” she declares. “This youth must prepare for positions of responsibility. It is the duty of today's decision-makers to give them all their chances, ”admits Sylvie Feucher, who assures us that“ the State will always be alongside the COM and schools ”.

The prefect recalled the importance of the training program to "meet the economic challenges". It also wishes to continue to encourage companies to hire through apprenticeship, professionalization and youth guarantee contracts "to meet their needs".

It also focuses on the development of the social and solidarity economy, economic integration, aid to businesses and associative jobs to "explore new avenues".

Finally, the prefect mentioned the education system and specifically the difficulties associated with bilingualism. "If bilingual classes are a first response, we must go further so that this tremendous wealth does not become a handicap," she conceives.
