Sint Maarten / Road delinquency: the police harden the tone and multiply the controls!

0

Faced with the irresponsible behavior of some road users who put their lives and those of others in danger, the Dutch police have decided to tighten controls and apply zero tolerance for crazy people driving and handling the handlebars!

A summary of almost all of the accidents that have occurred in recent months shows that road insecurity is generated by users who know the territory's roads well and who disregard basic driving rules: overtaking without visibility, speed not appropriate to the circumstances, driving under the influence of narcotics or (and) alcohol.

Because too many road users do not seem concerned about their safety and that of others, the government of Sint Maarten wanted to strengthen the presence of law enforcement on the ground.

New road checks were carried out recently in the areas of Cole Bay, Simpson Bay and Cupecoy.

These police operations made it possible to check 42 vehicles and issue 14 fines for various offences.

During a check, a suspect was arrested in connection with an incident on Richmond Drive in Cole Bay. The man, who could not present a valid residence permit, was subsequently handed over to the immigration service. _AF
