ROAD SAFETY: The gendarmerie once again proves the usefulness of road checks

0

As stipulated in our edition of this Monday, September 5, the gendarmerie carried out several roadside checks in the morning of the same day. Controls which proved to be productive with several infractions noted by the police.

In a press release issued on Friday last week, Lieutenant-Colonel Maxime Wintzer-Wehekind informed the population of his desire to work for safer roads, setting up, among other things, more frequent road checks. This operation to combat road insecurity, which took place this Monday, September 5 from 7 am to 9 am, once again demonstrated the effectiveness of such a system. The checks took place in the areas of Marigot, Hope Estate and Quartier d'Orléans, more particularly around schools. Several offenses were recorded, including concealment of a stolen vehicle, two insurance defaults, two driver's license defaults, two driving of light vehicles (LV) under the influence of narcotics, two use of a telephone while driving, two wearing a seat belt by the driver of the vehicle and failure to wear a seat belt by a passenger. The gendarmerie reports that other operations of this type will be scheduled soon with the same objective of raising awareness among road users of dangerous behavior. Road safety is everyone's business. _VX
