The body of a lifeless woman is found on the beach. A police investigation is opened. A policewoman, a fisherman and a taxi driver will rub shoulders during the investigations. Here is the story of Sirena, the short film that Souavi wants to produce in Saint-Martin.

Souavi is a young association that was created in 2019 to produce audiovisual content highlighting the territory. "The main objective is to produce entertainment, information and educational content with and intended for the Saint-Martin population", specifies Lilian Mirande, audiovisual technician who returned to Saint-Martin after his studies with this desire.

Sirena is the association's first big project. A partnership was created with the writer Valérie Lieko who wrote the scenario. To interpret the characters, Souavi is looking for women aged between 20 and 30 of Saint Martin or Caribbean origin as well as men aged between 35 and 50 of Saint Martin or Caribbean origin as well. Those interested can contact Lilian.

Filming will take place in November and will be in French. "Even if the actors do not have a perfect command of French, it does not matter because it will show the peculiarities of Saint-Martin", specifies Lilian. "On the other hand, people must be natural and feel comfortable in front of a camera."

The association is also looking for funding to make the short film. A call for donations has been launched on the GoFundMe platform, the ambition is to raise 5 euros.

Souavi will present Sirena at the next Caribbean Short Film Festival in February 2021.
