First edition of Handynamic: bet won!

Last Saturday, a disabled sports day was organized at the Vanterpool stadium where around fifty children with reduced mobility were able to discover several sports. Back on this great moment of happiness of the participants and the speakers.

As a reminder, "Handynamic" is an inter-associative project led by the Saint Martin Football League (LFSM) and financed by the Regional Academic Delegation for Youth, Engagement and Sports (DRAJES), Motorworld, the Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin and the Union Sportive de l'Enseignement Primaire (USEP) whose goal is to provide access to sports activities for children (even adults) with disabilities, while facilitating interactions with other able-bodied young people. The considerable lack of structures adapted for people with reduced mobility on the territory is unfortunately no longer to be proven. Such an initiative is therefore to be congratulated, especially since many associations answered the call of Aristide Conner, president of the LFSM, when he presented the "Handynamic" project to them. In partnership with the Tournesol and Cobraced associations, SESSAD and USEP, 50 children stormed the halls of the stadium dotted with sports stands. Dressed in a white "Handynamic" T-shirt (the red being reserved for the organizing teams), the young people were spoiled for choice: football (futsal – LFSM) which was held in the back of the halls, a match is also improvised with a team of young players from Saint Barth; boxing, with an inflatable ring whose workshops were supervised by an ABC Intersports facilitator; basketball (Backayard) where the ground at the entrance has not been empty. The "video" games which also develop the other senses were represented, thanks to a virtual reality helmet and controllers, the children boxed in the wind as if they were still in the real ring. Note other technical facilities such as a football goal to perfect penalties or trampolines to see the world from even higher. Speaking of height, a zip line pulled between the stands and the other side of the stadium was the surprise attraction of this disabled sports day, children with disabilities jostled to live this unique experience. More than ten children with reduced mobility or able-bodied presented themselves independently of those registered via the associations. In water sports, lawn surfing (Windy Reef) and seamanship with Wind Adventures. Other nautical activities will be honored during the second edition of Handynamic organized on May 14 by Métimer and already eagerly awaited by all the children whose joy was palpable. _VX
