The passage of category V “Irma” and “Maria” hurricanes in Saint-Martin and Guadeloupe has had significant impacts on wildlife and their habitats.
The exceptional nature of the situation and the requirements to protect the natural heritage made it necessary to take measures to manage huntable wildlife for the rest of the 2017-2018 hunting season.
To this end, the Departmental Hunting and Wildlife Commission met on October 25, 2017 to examine the proposals of the Departmental Federation of Guadeloupe Hunters. The corresponding draft prefectural decrees were submitted for public consultation from October 25 to November 16, 2017.
The following guidelines are adopted until the end of the 2017-2018 hunting season : Clearly, the exercise of hunting, all species combined, is strictly prohibited in Saint-Martin until January 7, 2018! _AF
