NARCOTRAFIC: More than 1,5 tons of cocaine seized off Anguilla!

0

As part of a joint international operation to combat drug smuggling, two ships apparently coming from the British Virgin Islands were intercepted on Friday July 7 in Anguillian territorial waters with 1,5 tonnes of cocaine on board.

Six people were arrested and two vessels containing a total of 60 bales (currently estimated at over 1,5 metric tons) of what is suspected to be cocaine, were seized by the RAPF (Royal Anguilla Police Force) and Anguilla Customs.

This major dragnet was made possible thanks to the good coordination between the American authorities, international partners, the British national crime agency and the maritime unit of the Royal Virgin Island Police Force (RVIPF), in cooperation with the Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF).

A statement from the RAPF says this success underscores that the ongoing international collaboration between law enforcement agencies in the Caribbean continues to disrupt and dismantle organized crime that can negatively impact people's lives. _AF
