The sanitary facilities of the Aline Hanson school being repaired: The school will remain closed on Friday June 11, 2021

As every year during the summer holidays, the Collectivity plans to intervene in July and August in schools, in order to carry out additional work to the renovation work already carried out in recent years in the 18 establishments of Saint-Martin. A work schedule covering all the urgent interventions to be carried out in the school park is being drawn up in conjunction with the heads of establishments and will be presented to them by the end of June.

The Sustainable Development delegation is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of this work in conjunction with the technical service teams and the companies providing services to the Collectivity. In fact, as in every summer vacation period, it is necessary to carry out compliance work and additional work in the schools concerned.

This is the case of the Aline Hanson school, whose sanitary facilities have been leaking repeatedly for several weeks, due to the dilapidated nature of the facilities. In this specific case, it is a question of repairing these leaks as quickly as possible to complete the school year and then initiating a more substantial project which consists of rehabilitating the sanitary facilities. It will be the same in other schools presenting problems of this type.

While the Aline Hanson school was forced to close its doors this Thursday, June 10 following a leak on the first floor of the building during the meridian break, the Community requested the immediate intervention of a plumber. The latter began its work on Thursday, a reinforced team will be deployed from tomorrow - Friday, June 11 - and during the weekend. At present, 14 taps and 16 toilets are condemned. For health security reasons, the school will remain closed on Friday 11 June 2021. The objective is to carry out urgent repairs in the coming days, for the school to reopen from Monday 14 June.

President Daniel Gibbs remains particularly attentive to the successful completion of this work, for the well-being of students and teachers.

The Community apologizes for the inconvenience caused and thanks the parents for their understanding.
