JUSTICE: One year in prison for beating his partner

0

On May 1, 2020, MG files a complaint against her companion who beats her. A few hours earlier, she had been the target of numerous violence. SJ was sued. He was due to appear last November but the case was sent back because the composition of the tribunal was not the right one. SJ was therefore scheduled to appear again that day, but he did not appear; only MG accompanied by the victim assistance association were present.

The facts were briefly recalled: On that day, May 1, SJ pushed his partner seven weeks pregnant, threatened to kill her, brandished a kitchen knife. MG was scared and wanted to jump out of their apartment window to run away with their daughter. The arrival of the gendarmes put an end to the altercation.

During her hearing, MG confirmed that SJ often hit and insult her since they started their relationship seven years ago. For his part, SJ explained that he had seven wives (including the victim), two of whom were pregnant and eight children (including two with the victim).

After deliberation, the court sentenced SJ to a one-year prison term and a five-year ban on gun ownership. An arrest warrant has also been issued.
