INFO: The EEASM temporarily stops work on the RN7 in Grand-Case

The Water and Sanitation Establishment of Saint-Martin, aware of the inconvenience caused by the work, has decided to suspend it until further notice. The stop is immediate.

Alerted by road users, the EEASM will use this period of suspension to study three new scenarios that would allow work to be resumed while minimizing nuisance.

The EEASM would like to point out that this work is of capital importance since this portion of the supply network is dilapidated, and is often the subject of serious breakages depriving half of the subscribers of drinking water.

The teams mobilized on this site will be redeployed to the one on Boulevard Bertin Maurice in Grand-Case and will therefore allow faster progress.

Three possibilities are available to the establishment in the management of the works of the RN7, possibilities already under study:

- The maintenance of the current organization with a time difference of the activity on the site to avoid the discomfort on the flows at the beginning and the end of the day, which would also allow to respect the constraints related to the flights from the Grand airport -Case. Signage, alternate traffic management and communication would also be improved.

- The establishment of a one-way diversion from Grand-Case to Savannah by bypassing the pond to the Cité Scolaire. This solution had already been considered but comes up against a problem of cost and cadastral status of the plots concerned.

- The reorganization of the RN7 site with a prioritization of night work would drastically minimize the nuisance, the demolition work would be confined to the early hours of the evening. This solution also comes up against a problem of additional cost.

The final choice will be the subject of a dedicated communication as soon as the decision has been taken. These necessary works were deliberately planned during the summer vacation period to avoid harming the flows linked to school hours and tourist activity.

The fact is, and this could not be anticipated, that frequentation of the main roads did not experience the usual seasonal drop in intensity, an element undoubtedly attributable to the need for a rapid economic recovery on which the vital forces are concentrated. following the confinement induced by the health crisis of COVID-19.

The EEASM thanks the users for their patience and the quality of the information feedback related to nuisances.

An upcoming communication will inform the population of the chosen organization with two determining parameters: this work is an urgent infrastructural necessity and must imperatively be carried out and completed before the start of the school year.
