GOLF / MULLET BAY: Santa Claus arrived early this year and with a large number of assistants

In total, 21 teams of 4 golfers had registered to participate in the traditional pre-Christmas "Santa scramble" at Mullet Bay golf course, which marks the end of the golfing season. Players must wear Santa's red cap and dress in red and white.

Around 10:30 am last Saturday, the 84 participants set off simultaneously (in "shot gun" a team on each tee) on the green fairways of the golf course of Mullet Bay in a festive atmosphere since most of them had brought sausage, cheese, wine and other food. that they tasted during the game.

After a fierce battle and a lot of fun, everyone gathered at the end of the competition at the "Tortuga" beach restaurant in Maho, for a well-deserved lunch and the awards ceremony.

The team composed of Shim Cohen, Jenny Marzi, Ludo and Alina Brun finished 1st with -10 in net ahead of the team Tony Lake, Tom & Louis Grato and Joel Soulie. The quartet Steve Oostrom, Kenny & Wai Hing Patterson, Steven Carty completes the podium.

Then a raffle and a mini auction with prizes offered by some of the participants, raised funds for the association and charities.

This friendly competition organized by the St. Maarten Golf Association (SMGA) was once again a huge success.

The SMGA is a non-profit organization which welcomes among its members all novice and experienced golfers, tourists and residents of St Maarten / St Martin. Regularly, the association organizes competitions, Match-Play and Medal Play tournaments as well as the annual St. Maarten Open in April.
