Saturday April 24 at 8:30 am, the Inter Professional Federation of the Collectivity of St Martin invited around fifty professionals for an exchange breakfast under the covered terrace of the homnage hotel in Nettle Bay.
After a welcome speech by the President of Fipcom, Michel Vogel, the various guests were able to present their difficulties and their ideas to the authorities present (Prefecture and Collectivity) to quickly improve the situation of companies in the face of the current crisis.
The loan guaranteed by the state (PGE) and other aids (Solidarity Fund…) even if they can support for a moment certain companies which benefit from it, are not the solution to get out of the crisis according to most professionals.
The companies, all of which live directly or indirectly from tourism, want to prevent the Saint-Martin destination from being “backlisted” as is the case at the moment because of the national measures applied here, without taking into account the specificities and the health situation. less serious than elsewhere in the nation.
All the participants admitted that it is urgent for our community to be able to welcome tourists again by replacing the current entry restrictions with reinforced sanitary measures.
A very good initiative from Fipcom because it is "united and in dialogue that solutions will be found" according to the general feeling.
