Number of cases reported per week

The first positive cases affecting people residing or having stayed on the island were declared on March 17, a French side and a Dutch side. During this first week, two other cases were confirmed in the French part, which brought the number of confirmed cases to 3. In the Dutch part the number of cases was 2.

During the first two weeks of the crisis, it was in the French part that the cases developed more with 3 and 11 cases respectively against 2 and 4 cases in the Dutch part.

It was during the third week - the last week between March 30 and April 5 - that the largest number of cases was recorded: 31 partly Dutch and 13 partly French.

Number of cumulative cases

The French side had more confirmed cases than the Dutch side until April 1, that day, it had 18 cases, 2 more than the Dutch side.

The trend then gradually reversed for two days, and strongly from April 5 when the government of Sint Maarten confirmed 10 new cases. The result was then 27 cases cumulated in the French part and 37 in the Dutch part.

Since last weekend, the number of cases has stabilized; on both sides.

Clarification: the article talks about confirmed positive cases and not only active cases. That is why there is a difference between the figures indicated here and those indicated in the daily health reports which show active cases.
