ENVIRONMENT: Robert Weinum High School is organizing its 1st Sustainable Development Week from May 22 to 26

Largely involved in the various aspects of sustainable development since its opening, the Robert Weinum high school has chosen this year to strengthen its thinking and its commitment to sustainable development.

During the previous years, the work undertaken by fully committed teachers and students, supported by the management of the school, made it possible to lay the first milestones of a common reflection.

With the help of the partners of the Rectorate established in Saint-Martin and accompanied effectively by the Education for Sustainable Development department of SENIDN (National Education Service for the Northern Islands), the school has also seen granted, in 2021, level 1 of the national E3D label (Establishment in Sustainable Development Approach). This 2022-2023 school year is a turning point for the school: its director, Olivier Saunier, has appointed two teachers to co-manage the ESD mission.

These two referents, Mrs. Ninon Michon and Mr. Sébastien Cathala, then piloted the group of eco-delegates of the establishment, students elected by their peers.

With the help of various departments of the establishment (School Life, Secretariats, Management, CDI, etc.), various actions were then undertaken: school outings, participation in webinars, training sessions, particularly around the 17 Development Goals Sustainable of the UN, interventions of partners, exhibitions...

On the other hand, the school serves as support for the Academic ESD Steering Committee for the Northern Islands, a body which meets twice a year (next meeting on May 23).

In order to give even more meaning to our commitment to sustainable development, which is also a cross-cutting aspect of our school project currently being developed, the school has decided to organize a special event for its students and staff with an opening towards the colleges of the island while benefiting from the support of the school radio of the college of Mont des Accords. The event will be held at the high school, from May 22 to 26, 2023.
