ECONOMY: The TGCA reports less than the turnover tax

0

The general turnover tax (TGCA) in 2018 brought in 20,5 million euros. This is almost three times less than the revenue from the turnover tax (TOT), the equivalent of the TGCA in the Dutch part.

TOT has indeed reported to the government 117,5 million Naf, or 65,27 million USD or 59,34 million euros. In general, the product of TOT is much higher than that of TGCA: 78  million USD against 15 M € in 2015, 77,7 M USD against 9 M € in 2014.

The difference of one point in the rate is not the only reason for this significant difference; as a reminder, the TGCA is 4% against 5% for TOT. We can assume that the recovery is better in the South of the island and that the consumption is greater since that more activities related to tourism (restaurant, supply, shops, etc.). (soualigapost.com)
