The Spa terrace of the Manapany hotel was a magnificent setting for the 8th St-Barth blitz championship last Sunday.
Jef Follner won his 7th consecutive title by winning his 7 games. “My tightest part was against Jean-Luc Junod since I only found the mate two seconds from the end”. From the 3rd round there was the decisive part of the championship between Jef and Alex Segura, recent winner in the simultaneous. The chessboard has heated up and Alex concedes his only defeat after a fierce struggle. By easily taking 2nd place, he won the magnificent prize of the Sapphire Hotel.
The first youngster is Valentin Francou who showed authority by beating two adults, which allowed him to climb to the 3rd step of the podium. But he will still need a lot of training to overcome the first two. The future is hers.
