Culture for all: Inauguration of the project for quality access to education and information

Last Tuesday took place, at the Jean-Louis Vanterpool Sports Hall, the inauguration of the “Culture for all in Saint-Martin” project led by the association Bibliothèques Sans Frontières. This operation is the launch of a program imagined a year ago by Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, in partnership with the prefecture of the northern islands and the Fondation de France, as part of the reconstruction of the island.

An inauguration which took place in the presence of the deputy prefect Sylvie Feucher, the 1st vice-president of the Collectivity, Valérie Damaseau, Michel Sanz, inspector of the Academy - Deputy Academic Director of the National Education services for Îles du Nord, Jacques Desproges, the Fondation de France, Audrey Claxton, president of the Cobraced association, as well as Enora Hamon, head of operations at Bibliothèques Sans Frontières in France. For the latter, "this operation makes it possible to restore access to quality cultural and educational content to all the island's inhabitants".

The prefect Sylvie Feucher specifies that this project makes it possible to bring culture in the districts and the schools.

"The Ideas Cube is a portable library which leads to an extremely large database in school curricula, and a complete digital library", assures the prefect.

The prefecture ordered nineteen Ideas Cube and the content of these libraries was made in connection with National Education, “it is a product that has not arrived finished. The material was designed locally, with the teachers ”, which will allow them to lead workshops with their classes.

The other two projects are Ideas Box, mobile libraries with computers, tablets, cinema, creative materials and books. “A truck, which we also managed to procure for the Cobraced association, will go to the different districts of the island, to meet children, but also the elderly. It is not only the children that interest us, it is also creating intergenerational ”, specifies the prefect.

A project which represents a budget of nearly 700 euros, and which includes "all the acquisition of materials, two media libraries in kit form, the production of the nineteen Ideas Cube, digital media libraries and the delivery of 000 books in French, English and Spanish for primary and nursery schools on the island, ”says Enora Hamon. In addition, there is also support and training for all of Saint-Martin's associations, for almost a year and a half. _RM
