0

Take-off is scheduled for 21 p.m. on Saturday October 27 at the Axum Art Café in Philipsburg. The musicians Souleyman Camara and Julien Seguret invite you to discover the sounds of Malinke music, coming from Guinea.

Arrived 3 months ago on the island, Souleyman Camara plays kora, sings and composes his music. Accompanied by Julien Seguret, a well-known percussionist of music lovers on the island, they will perform in concert for the first time as a duo “This concert is, we hope, the first in a series. We want to travel through this project and why not integrate other artists who want it. »Julien Séguret, percussionist.

The Kora is a traditional instrument similar to a harp composed of a half calabash and 21 strings. Symbolic of Mandingo culture, this traditional instrument is modernizing more and more: it can be transformed into an electric instrument and it is found in different musical genres such as electro, hip hop and reggae. _AV
