Gathered at the Grand Case Beach Club in the presence of officials and representatives of local sports associations, the members of the CTOS-SBSM unveiled the missions and advantages of this new decentralized body of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) dedicated to promote sport and Olympic values by contributing to the coordination of sporting activities in the SXM and SBH territories. Alain Gros-Desormeaux, president of the CTOS-SBSM, did not hide his enthusiasm: “Today marks the start of an extraordinary adventure and we are ready to take on the challenges in order to inspire young people.” Joy shared by Fabien Sésé, secretary general of the prefecture, and Louis Mussington, president of the COM having allocated a grant of €305.000, which welcomed this strong initiative which demonstrates the common desire to ensure the development of sport with this ambition to bring the Olympic Games to life in both territories. With 15 members, the CTOS-SBSM has two employees: a director in charge of management, the excellent Peggy Oulerich, and an administrative collaborator, Mélissa François. The CTOS-SBSM is divided into 4 commissions led by the 4 vice-presidents of the committee: 'Sport, education and citizenship' to, among other things, support the development of sport in schools (Andy Armongon), 'Sport, health and well-being' -être' in order to promote the sporting practice of people with disabilities and raise awareness about healthy sport (Aurélie Soucy), 'Sport and professionalization' which will develop training for managers and partnerships with clubs (Cécile Lucidarme) and 'Sport , public policies and high level' to encourage the grouping of disciplines and encourage young people to pursue a path of excellence (Patrick Trival). By joining annually the CTOS-SBSM (200€ isolated club only attached to a National Federation, 300€/club for committees, 400€/club for leagues), the sports associations of SBH and SXM will no longer have to join the CROS of Guadeloupe due to lack of a local committee. With the creation of the CTOS-SBSM, they will be recognized at the national level by the CNOSF, will be able to participate in the “Island Games” (COJI) and the CASCO (Central American Games) and benefit from priority access to a meeting room in Bellevue. The CTOS-SBSM also carries the “Terre de Jeux 2024” label in order to experience the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through events in the city center, the Olympic and Paralympic week from April 2 to 6, 2024, the establishment of a 'fan zone' with sporting activities and take advantage of the spotlight of the Games to promote the two territories. _VX
