After tourism professionals, the FEDOM is stepping up to the plate

“Decree number 2020–663 of May 31, 2020 drastically restricts freedoms, travel, the reopening of businesses, and the restarting of activities in Overseas and Corsica. It is all the more surprising that apart from Guyana and Mayotte, the Overseas Territories are all in the green zone, which is far from being the case for all the departments of France where, however, the obstacles to the freedoms of trips that we denounce have been suppressed, ”underlines the Federation of Overseas Enterprises.

"Faced with such aberrations, our Corsican compatriots did not fail to react vigorously, by calling out to the Prime Minister and denouncing surprising, incoherent, unequal arrangements between air and sea, between hexagonal France and the island of Corsica, and therefore obtained a new decree repealing these restrictive provisions only for Corsica.

Air traffic is therefore reestablished in Corsica, without a fortnight, and without travel restrictions for only compelling reasons.

We are happy for our Corsican compatriots, but their success makes the situation in which the ultramarines are digging their own grave even more heartbreaking!

How to qualify the attitude of our elected officials, whether they are parliamentarians, local elected officials, regional or community presidents in the face of such a lack of courage, such a lack of solidarity vis-à-vis the tourism sector in their territory, but above all in front of such a lack of lucidity on the economic devastation which is announced?

How can we also qualify the attitude of the government and the Prime Minister towards our territories? Why maintain for Overseas only (except Guyana and Mayotte which are not in the green zone) provisions recognized as inconsistent for Corsica 48 hours after the publication of the general decree? We thought that relegation had been abolished in 1946, but obviously not everyone knows it.

Already, in a number of territories and notably in French Polynesia, hotels are closing and employees are being made redundant. But the worst unfortunately remains to come.

The FEDOM, which brings together all of the overseas economic circles, therefore solemnly calls on the Prime Minister so that the Overseas Territories are not the only injured areas of the Republic, condemned to an economic disaster from which they will not be able to recover.

We are not oblivious. We know that we must reassure the overseas citizens about health checks before boarding.

This is why we urge the government to replace the principle of prohibition with a principle of "secure authorization" in terms of health which would allow everyone to travel and therefore our savings to restart. "
