Launched by the Collectivity of Saint Martin, the participatory and collaborative cleaning campaign began on July 8 and ended on Monday August 8.
As a reminder, the Collectivité wishes to clean up the territory before the high hurricane season and is asking the population to join in this effort by cleaning the private domain in the various districts of the island and by evacuating its bulky items to the edge of the the road between 19 p.m. and 22 p.m. These will then be collected regularly, from 23 p.m. and depending on the deposits to be made by the collection services concerned. Each citizen is therefore invited to do their part and clean up their living space. The Community, which will clean up the gullies requiring intervention before the high hurricane season in August, also calls on construction companies, condominium trustees, or car garage managers, to fully mobilize as part of this campaign and to clean up their properties. The population can also drop off their bulky waste and out-of-use household appliances directly at the local waste collection centres, namely the Grande Cayes ecosite and the Galisbay waste collection center (see Info for opening hours). Both are free for individuals. The major clean-up operation, which also involves the removal of car and boat wreckage, is carried out in partnership with the European Union, which finances 85% of this work. The appeal to citizens is therefore relaunched, it is the last straight line for the territory to be clean for a long time. _VX
