The selection of young Saint-Martin basketball players was in Guadeloupe last weekend for a sporting event called “Holi Basketball Tour”. A tournament which allowed players from Saint-Martin to meet their counterparts from the La Luciole and Etoile de l'Ouest (EDO) teams.
During their first match, which took place at the Halle des Sports in Pointe-Noire, the Saint-Martin selection was opposed to La Luciole. A meeting that the proteges of Calvin Bryan, president of Speedy Plus and initiator of this tournament, controlled from start to finish. Indeed, during half-time, the Saint-Martiners led 19 to 12, to end the game with a score of 48 to 16.
For the second part, the selection of Saint-Martin met the EDO. A team that will not worry more than that the Saint-Martin who already, at half-time, had taken the front, 20 to 8. After the break, the Etoile de l'Ouest tried to return to the mark , but it was without counting on the tenacity of Saint-Martin who managed to maintain the distance and win the match by a score of 39 to 30.
The young players, notably from Marigot and Quartier d'Orléans were supervised by coaches Alan Nérome and Dédé Michelet. The president of the Speedy Plus association, Calvin Bryan, set up this activity within the framework of the City Contract, with the Collectivity and the Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.
