SXM FESTIVAL: Day 2: recap

0

After a first day and an evening that ended in apotheosis last Wednesday, the SXM Festival continued to shine brightly on Thursday. Back to some musical performances.

Thursday, March 10 was eagerly awaited by festival-goers given the line-up of the Boat Party, held on a catamaran provided for the occasion. Paolo Rocco and YokoO got fans of electronic music dancing from 15 to 18 p.m. The evening continued on the Happy Bay site where the space in front of the Arc Stage was taken over by a swarm of children during the Mashrik warm-up, once again bringing the SXM Festival to life in a dynamic as festive as family. The little ones, in the middle of a candy hunt improvised on the spot by Julian Prince and his wife, then gave way to festival-goers who were eager to start this second night of music. Layla Benitez took the vibe up a serious notch by offering a set with remarkable melodies. The piano player and daughter of the famous Jellybean Benitez, who revolutionized the New York music scene in the 80s, very quickly succeeded in drawing festival-goers into her world of deep house and experimental electro. Jan Blomqvist's live recorded the evening in the annals of the 2022 edition of the SXM Festival with a simple rhythm and an almost angelic voice. The Berlin-based artist cast a transcendental spell over the crowd. Music lovers in the audience will have easily thought of Portishead or Radiohead during his performance, Jan Blomqvist's strength will undoubtedly be in his natural ability to mix musical genres without distorting his own artistic signature. The Ocean Stage was occupied by Baham, Ms. Mada, Audiofly, warming up before their performance at the Panorama Party on Friday and by DJ Tennis whose set was dedicated to a less minimal style of electronic music, more danceable with disco tendencies, encouraging festival-goers to dance again and again. The night ended before daybreak with anticipation for tomorrow.  _VX
