Blue Week: seniors in the spotlight

0

As part of the national week of retirees and the elderly, the Community of Saint-Martin and its Solidarity, Health and Families Delegation have developed a program of activities for the elderly in the region. Despite a schedule disrupted by storm Philippe, this new revisited edition of the blue week is indeed taking place.

Blue Week started last Thursday with a trip to the restaurant. The next day, seniors enjoyed brunch, games, wellness activities and musical entertainment from Natisha Hanson, Royalty and DJ Flames at Archipel restaurant in Sandy Ground. The famous Gran Moune ball was held last Saturday in the same place, punctuated by a cultural show.

This week, elderly people will be celebrating again with the open day organized tomorrow, Tuesday October 10, from 9 a.m. in the Community garden, animated with energy by MC Dutty Sham. The St. Martin's anthem will be performed by Natisha Hanson, followed by the officials' opening speech. Numerous stands will be set up for the occasion and run by the CCGS, Casedom, DAP, SXM Nini, Innovation Médicale Caraibes, Assistance des Îles and the Crown association. Well-being activities will be offered by Saint Martin Santé. The Blue Morning will feature music from Bottle Neck Crew, Sweet Pan Entertainment and DJ Flames. On Wednesday October 11 from 15 p.m. to 18 p.m., time for the superb blue march at the Thelbert Carti stadium in Quartier d'Orléans. We still remember last year's blue march, which brought together all generations around the stadium. This new edition will certainly leave room for other good moments of emotion and lovely memories. The information stands present the day before in Marigot will also be there in Quartier d'Orléans this Wednesday. Just like the physical activities of Saint Martin Santé. Musical entertainment will be provided by Shantillia, Bottle Neck Crew and DJ Flames. Our precious seniors will benefit from it, right down to the last note. As Louis Mussington, president of the Community, declared, “Carriers of wisdom, knowledge and experience, older people enrich our daily lives and enlighten us with their experiences.

Faced with the increasing cost of living and current economic challenges, many are experiencing financial difficulties. And after a life of hard work, they deserve a peaceful and dignified retirement. Thus, we are committed to being at their side. Today, like every day, I encourage every Saint-Martin resident to cherish our elders, to visit their grandparents or to reach out to their older neighbors. Let us be grateful for all they have given and continue to offer.” Have a nice blue week everyone. _VX
