Creation of the medico-social center, monitoring of beneficiaries receiving ASPA (solidarity allowance for the elderly) and APA (personalized autonomy allowance), home support for the elderly, as many points as the center Solidarity and Families of the Collectivity manages on a daily basis.

According to statistics published by the IEDOM (Overseas Departments Emission Institute) Saint Martin has nearly 4000 people over the age of 60, exactly 3928 registered, according to a report dating from 2016. The Collectivity follows 245 beneficiaries who benefit from ASPA, and 183 beneficiaries of ABS. There were 132 of them in 2018, while 423 people are beneficiaries of social minima, according to the CGSS of Guadeloupe.

For Annick Pétrus, Vice-President of the Collectivity in charge of the Solidarity and Families Pole, "keeping elderly people at home is a fundamental issue", which is why the Collectivity supports family carers in this process of autonomy.

On the other hand, since January 16, two agents from the Department of Personal Autonomy have been on call in the MSAPs (Service Houses for the Public) in Sandy Ground and in the Quartier d'Orléans.

In these MSAP offices, you can find a Senior Info Point which offers the elderly, or their families, a welcome, listening and information in the areas that concern them. In particular practical issues such as the priority card, as well as home support which is a major concern for many families. There is also a Handicap Info Point which offers listening and information to people with disabilities, or their families. In both MSAPs, the hotlines are open every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The project of creation of the medico-social Pole materializes "little by little", according to the vice-president Petrus, "I fight for long months with the President Daniel Gibbs and our teams, carried by a common determination; see the first stone laid before the end of this mandate ”. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the ARS (Regional Health Agency), "we have regular meetings to work on the progress of this project, and I guarantee it, it is moving forward". _RM
