JUSTICE: Driving without insurance and under alcohol, he asks for a delay to prepare his defense

VP was summoned last Thursday before the local court of Saint-Martin for having driven a vehicle under the influence of an alcoholic state, for not having insured the said vehicle and for having caused involuntary injuries with incapacity not exceeding three month last February.

If VP admitted the facts, he however wanted a delay to prepare his defense. Indeed, he argued in court and at the prosecutor's office that the proceedings against him were not legal in the sense that, according to him, they did not correspond to the rules of the road. He quickly recalled that in 2009 the community of Saint-Martin had its own traffic code, so the offenses charged today do not comply with this code.

VP's trial has been adjourned to October 25. He must produce his conclusions no later than ten days before so that the magistrates have time to read them and respond to them during the hearing.

Finally, the prosecutor took advantage of the presence of VP to notify him of her previous judgment rendered in his absence on July 1. He had been sentenced to six months in prison for domestic violence.
