"We could steal the car in another way," admits one of the authors of a car jacking at the bar of the court before which he appeared last week. In October 2014 around 19 p.m., he and three acolytes threatened a couple of tourists and their daughter with a gun in the parking lot of a supermarket in Mont Vernon to steal their car. They had rented a car with which they had an accident and not having enough money to pay for repairs, they had the idea to steal one to recover the necessary parts.
After deliberation, the court imposed a sentence of three years in prison, one year of which was suspended for two years, including the obligation to work and compensate the victims up to 5 euros and 000 euros for attorneys' fees. They are prohibited from carrying a weapon without authorization for a period of five years. No deposit warrant was requested; their two-year sentence could be adjusted in Saint-Martin.
