SXM Seniors Connect training: new digital workshops set up for seniors throughout the month of November

The health crisis has further highlighted the difficulties encountered by digitally vulnerable inhabitants to access essential daily life services.

Many citizens have been hampered in their access to rights due to the lockdown. So many situations that reveal the urgency of digital support for vulnerable audiences. In addition, the most fragile territories of the Republic, “priority areas of city policy”, “overseas territories” have concentrated additional difficulties during this health crisis.

The National Agency for Territorial Cohesion has urgently decided to support 15 French people primarily from these territories through the direct distribution of digital passes.

In its capacity as Hub for Inclusive Digital Technology and qualified APTIC operator, the ANIS Saint-Martin association has been mandated by the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion to relay this special operation in the Overseas collectivity of Saint -Martin. Thus, the association ANIS Saint-Martin, in collaboration with the association of the third age: the Crown, deploys a workshop for seniors "SXM Seniors Connect, throughout the month of November.

This digital course will take place in 4 sessions lasting 2 hours:

• Inventory of knowledge, handling of the tablet and / smartphone

• Internet security, protect yourself from spam, viruses, etc.

• Discovery of exchange tools (emails, skype, etc.)

• Registration and follow-up of his file on useful sites (CGSS, etc.)

• Consultation of institutional prevention sites (For aging well, Mutualité Française, etc.)

Objectives designed for the daily life of seniors

While the general objective of this action is to promote access to digital technology for people aged 60 and over, it breaks down into several very distinct objectives that each participant can use in their daily life.

At the end of these workshops, it will therefore be a question of the beneficiaries being able to carry out research on the internet, to know the exchange tools (messaging, social networks), their interests and their limits in a perspective to fight against isolation, to know the institutional sites of the social sphere, in particular those concerning prevention and aging well, to learn how to use the Internet to carry out certain administrative procedures, to acquire vigilance reflexes on the potential risks associated with the internet: relative reliability of certain articles / sites, advertisements and commercial offers, personal data, internet purchases.

Registration for the November program is underway. The trainings take place every Wednesday (Sandy-Ground) and Thursday (Concordia), from November 5 to 26, and should welcome around XNUMX participants.
