Two individuals aged thirty years will be brought before the criminal court of Saint-Martin this Wednesday, October 16 for immediate appearance for detention, offer and acquisition of narcotic drugs.
Both are suspected of being involved in the trafficking of cannabis herb and cocaine.
EF and MM were arrested last Friday by the gendarmes in Grand Case in the act, before being placed in police custody and then in pre-trial detention. They had been under surveillance since April. The investigators were able to observe their behavior and sales strategy: the drug is hidden in a plot of land around rue des Ecole and the sale is made on the side of the national road.
EF, already convicted last year for trafficking, recognizes these new facts. When he was arrested, he had 460 euros and 160 dollars with him. On the other hand MM denies his implication.
The gendarmes discovered 82 sachets of cannabis and 19 of cocaine for weights of 161 and 13 grams respectively.
A third individual suspected of participating in the trafficking was not arrested due to insufficient evidence.
Wednesday morning, EF and MM will have the choice to agree to be judged the same day or to request a delay to prepare their defense, in the latter case their trial will be postponed. The judges will then have to rule on their situation: whether they continue their pre-trial detention or whether they are released under judicial supervision or not pending their trial.
