TRAVEL: Many important meetings for Angèle Dormoy in Paris

0

The President of the Interprofessional Consular Chamber of Saint-Martin, Angèle Dormoy, has just concluded an intensive trip to France, marked by strategic meetings serving all sectors of activity in the territory.

This trip demonstrates the interprofessionality of the CCISM and the significant growth in the representation of our territory on a national scale.

Discussions with the President of the Central Pricing Office

During her stay, the President had the opportunity to meet the President of the BCT (Central Pricing Office) to discuss the problem of insurance escheat. The BCT plays a crucial role since, as a regulatory body, it is responsible for responding to any difficulty in terms of an insurance solution as long as it is compulsory. This body aims, in the event of refusal of insurance in schemes expressly provided for by the insurance code, to impose on an insurance company, freely chosen by a policyholder, the subscription of a risk (automobile, construction …) and in particular the risks of natural disasters. It must therefore set the amount of the premium by which the insurance company is required to guarantee the risk that has been offered to it. The President underlined that following the natural disaster of 2017, no action had been taken in Saint-Martin with the BCT, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness among the population about this possibility.

The CCISM is considering the best format in order to inform the economic fabric of this body and remind people of the need to be insured, especially in a territory like ours, prone to natural disasters.

Meeting with the Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories

Following on from the visit of Community Elected Officials to the Ministry, Economic and Consular Elected Officials had a meeting with the Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories to take stock after his visit to the territory in the fall, thus being part of the Progress Report of the Interministerial Committee for Overseas Territories. The President was thus able to return to the insurance issues in the region but also to resume discussions concerning the new tax exemption arrangements which pose a risk for our local economy. The CCISM and its President express their gratitude to the Minister for having contacted representatives of the economic world, in particular FIPCOM, allowing a global and concerted vision of the issues specific to our territory. A meeting followed with overseas consular and socio-professional counterparts to discuss the progress of the economic measures of the Association of Overseas Chambers of Commerce and Industry 2023. This opportunity made it possible to emphasize on the need to strengthen overseas economies, emphasizing the importance of union while respecting our regional specificities (continued and finished in our edition tomorrow).
