As every year, a military ceremony, in tribute to the dead of the gendarmerie, victims of duty, took place on Tuesday, February 16, at 11 am, at the Savane barracks.
The ceremony took place under the command of Squadron Leader Stephan Basso, commander of the Saint-Martin / Saint-Barthélemy company, in the presence of Mr. Julien Marie, director of the prefecture's cabinet services, representing Mr. the deputy prefect of the northern islands, Serge Gouteyron and Daniel Gibbs, president of the community.
In the context of cross-border exchanges, the KPSM (Police of Sint Maarten) was invited and was represented by Mr. Rudoph Bloeiman, Deputy Head of the KPSM.
During the year 2020, eight soldiers of the gendarmerie perished in the performance of their duty. Wreaths, in honor of the military victims of duty, were laid by these authorities.
The ceremony, taking into account the health situation, took place in a small committee. _AF
