In less than a month, 27 students from Alphonse de Lamartine elementary school and René Descartes junior high school will be leaving to visit Chicago for a week.
This educational trip was prepared throughout the year with the participation of the Lycée Français de Chicago. The students and their teachers have been working since last September on the recipe for pancakes, cakes and raffles to help fund this project. An association has also been created within the establishment to facilitate management and organization. “I hope that this type of project will continue and that other cultural projects will be initiated by new teachers. We are on the right track ”specifies Mrs. Geoffroy, president of the association and in charge of the project.
Students will stay with their families with their local correspondents in order to perfect their English and discover American culture. This trip is an opportunity to share with children the cultural and sporting wealth that the city offers. Many outings will be on the program, including an architectural cruise on the Chicago River, the Sheed Aquarium, the Art Institute or the Natural History Museum. Sports exchanges with LFC students are also planned to promote interactions between children. At this time, the students are eager to leave! _AF
